Akamai (Linode) + OpenClaw FAQ
What changed when Akamai acquired Linode?
Akamai bought Linode in early 2022. The cloud computing platform now operates as Akamai Connected Cloud. The Linode API and dashboard remain the same. The main addition is integration with Akamai’s global edge network for CDN and DDoS protection.
Is the Nanode 1 GB plan enough for OpenClaw?
The Nanode works for testing and development but may run out of memory under sustained message load. For production use with a single agent, the 2 GB plan provides a comfortable margin for the OpenClaw process, database, and OS overhead.
How does Longview monitoring help with OpenClaw?
Longview tracks real-time CPU usage, memory consumption, disk I/O, and network throughput on your Linode. If your agent starts responding slowly, Longview graphs pinpoint whether the bottleneck is CPU, memory, or disk before you need to SSH in.
Can I load-balance OpenClaw across multiple Linodes?
Yes. Use a Linode NodeBalancer to distribute webhook traffic across two or more Linodes running OpenClaw. Each instance shares the same agent configuration through a connected database. This provides high availability and horizontal scaling.
Which Linode region should I pick?
Choose the data center closest to your users. Newark and Atlanta cover US East, Dallas and Los Angeles cover US West, London and Frankfurt cover Europe, Singapore and Tokyo cover Asia-Pacific, and Sydney covers Oceania.
What does running OpenClaw on Linode cost in total?
Your total cost is the OpenClawHosting subscription plus your Linode instance cost (which varies by specs). AI provider API usage is billed separately. Check our pricing page and Linode's website for current rates.
